The Nagambie
MACC (Mobile Art-Craft Centre) service is provided by DEET to take
the Visual Arts curriculum to rural schools in the area. One of
the schools serviced is Highlands Primary School.
The MACC teacher, Sandra Jolly, drives the MACC van to schools
including Avenel PS, Dhurringile PS, Flowerdale PS, Highlands PS,
Longwood PS, Nagambie PS, Pyalong PS, Ruffy PS, St. Joseph's CS,
Tallarook PS, Toolamba PS and Willowmavin PS. The students receive
a one hour lesson each fortnight and explore many different art
media.
Seeing the results of the artwork on the Highlands Primary School website,
Sandra approached Consonant to prepare and put up two pages on the
as-yet-undeveloped Nagambie Primary School site to explain about
the MACC program and showcase her students' work.
With Sandra
having pre-chosen the backgrounds and fonts, this project was a
single morning's work to scan the artwork, manipulate the images
and prepare the pages.
While it was
a bit off-putting having the client sitting next to us for the duration
(normally we get to do this in the privacy of our office far, far
away from our clients!!) it was also very rewarding to complete
an entire 'site' within a single session. And we're proud to flaunt
this little site - Sandra chose well: it looks good and is a lot
of fun!
